Hydrotherapy for Psoriasis
PSORIASIS – IT IS AN IMMUNOLOGICALLY MEDIATED DISEASE THAT MANIFESTS WITH SYMPTOMS ON THE SKIN AND SOMETIMES IN THE JOINTS.
Psoriasis affects 2% to 3% of the population of Ukraine.
The treatment of psoriasis in modern medicine includes a complex of systemic and topical agents, as well as physiotherapy methods, including the use of water procedures (hydrotherapy), which are prescribed to patients individually depending on the stage of the dermatosis, accompanying somatic diseases, etc.
Patients with psoriasis are recommended to use hydrotherapy, which helps in the mechanical cleansing of the elements of the rash from scales that form in excessive amounts on their surface.
Sodium chloride baths (or sea baths, brine) help reduce the development of psoriatic papules and plaques. Water procedures should be conducted during the remission period, as the skin is most vulnerable during exacerbation. To prepare them, sea or regular kitchen salt is used. Dissolve the salt in warm water (40-45 °C). It is recommended to take baths for no longer than 15 minutes. The treatment course consists of 10 to 15 procedures, 3 times a week. Immediately after the procedure, it is necessary to rinse the skin with fresh water and dry it with a towel. For one hour after the procedure, one should remain in a warm room.
In psoriasis, baths with Dead Sea salt provide an antiseptic effect, improve metabolic processes at the cellular level, and relieve itching and flaking. We recommend using “Salt for Tired Feet” by the Feetcalm brand. Since the salt contains a number of beneficial components for the skin, namely:
-
Dead Sea salt has anti-inflammatory properties, actively participates in metabolic processes, promotes skin regeneration, strengthens the connective tissue of the skin, and renews it.
-
Chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties and contains antioxidants.
-
Lavender increases the elasticity of the epidermis.
-
Coconut oil has moisturizing, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties.
-
Aloe vera improves the elasticity of skin tissues.
All these natural components positively affect the condition of the skin and improve metabolic processes at the cellular level, relieving itching and flaking.
PSORIASIS – IS NOT A SENTENCE.
Science does not stand still; new methods of influencing the disease are constantly being researched. Confirmation of this are the people who have learned to control the disease.
